The Legacy Project - Fresno is a Leadership Development & Summer Job Opportunity for Youth (ages 14-24) in the Fresno/Clovis Area.
This annual summer employment opportunity for youth offers participant's and communities new ways to practice communicating about systemic oppression and cultural differences. Participants will practice using a common language and framework (VISIONS Tools), then use their acquired experience and creativity to develop a community event.
Participants will engage in peer leadership and anti-oppression/multicultural skill development. They will be exposed to conflict resolution models, financial literacy resources, and gain critical career and self development tools. Legacy Project Fresno is based on the VISIONS Inc. Legacy Project, a youth development program that started in Boston, MA in 2008. VISIONS Inc. is an international consulting organization that provides training and facilitation around diversity, equity and inclusion. The Legacy Project has adapted the VISIONS Model for youth. Participants in Legacy Fresno will strengthen their understanding of the VISIONS Tools and apply them to the current issues that face our nation and the world.
The program will run for 5 weeks. Participants will be paid to learn the VISIONS materials through a series modules, assignments, and group activities/dialogues and arts based, creative activities. The group will work together to produce an event and measure their own progress as they find creative ways to share their reflections and come to know about themselves and the world. Each youth will be responsible for completing each week’s assignments and being present for group activities. They will receive a stipend upon completion of the program.
